Thinking

Years ago, I took a StrengthsFinder test and learned that my four strengths were Belief, Maximizer, Futuristic, and Strategic. Strategic ranked at the top of the list. "Those of you with that strength are thinkers," the test administrator said.

I didn't realize I was a thinker until I thought about it, and it became clear to me that my mind has a tendency to run without shutting off. I spend hours pondering life-changing questions like these:

     • If a mouse eats grass seed and gets wet, will it turn into a Chia pet?

     • Why would anybody want to use recycled toilet paper?

     • How do you entertain a motion? Do you throw it in front of the TV with a bowl of popcorn and a Coke?

     • Did Adam and Eve have belly buttons?

     • Where does dust come from?

     • If I let a pile of dust grow in my house, would it someday turn into a man?

     • Will I have chin hairs in heaven?

     • How do you draw a blank? With an eraser?

I think about the tag on my blue jeans that says to wash and dry separately. How could I wash and dry them at the same time?

I think about the sign at Red Lobster advertising bottomless crab legs. I didn't even know crabs had bottoms!

I think and think and think. But my favorite thing to think about is God. How is it possible the God of the universe cares about me? How is it possible He loves me so much He wants a personal relationship with me? I'll probably ponder these questions the rest of my life.
